THE WHY
My name is Daniel, and for five years I ran a local nonprofit called
Kids Give to Kids.
What started in my apartment grew into a 4,000-square-foot facility and a program that provided more than $2 million worth of toys to children in our community.
But Kids Give to Kids was about much more than giving away toys.
We created a website where children could choose brand-new donated toys at no cost. Families could also upload toys their children had outgrown, allowing another child to choose and enjoy them for free.
Local restaurants became part of the mission by serving as pickup and drop-off locations. When children picked up or donated a toy, participating restaurants could even provide them with a free kids meal.
It brought kids, families, local businesses, and the community together through giving.
Most importantly, it gave every child the opportunity to be part of the experience.
Every kid could be a giver.
Every kid could have a choice.
Every kid could be treated equally.
THEN I HAD TO CLOSE THE DOORS
Shortly after Christmas in late 2024, I made the difficult decision to close Kids Give to Kids.
The problem wasn't finding children to help. It wasn't finding toys. And it wasn't finding businesses that believed in what we were doing.
The biggest challenge was continually raising enough money to operate and grow the organization.
I also learned from my own mistakes.
Running Kids Give to Kids taught me what worked, what didn't work, and what I would do differently if I ever had the opportunity to build it again.
Now I have that opportunity.
THIS TIME, WE'RE BUILDING IT DIFFERENTLY
My mission today is to rebuild Kids Give to Kids using everything I learned during those five years.
A major part of that vision is technology.
As funding becomes available, we plan to develop a one-of-a-kind Kids Give to Kids App designed to help manage the entire program—from the backend operations to the experience children and families have using it.
Kids and their families will be able to browse available toys, choose the toy they want, and upload new or gently used toys they would like to give to another child.
And we're making the process even easier.
Instead of requiring families to travel to pickup and drop-off locations, Kids Give to Kids will work toward picking up donated toys and delivering selected toys directly to families.
Our goal is to make the entire experience simple and easy—from giving a toy to receiving one.
Technology can help us manage inventory, organize pickups and deliveries, connect families, and operate the program more efficiently.
Most importantly, I believe the app can inspire more kids to become givers.
Imagine a child opening the app with their parents, finding a toy they no longer play with, uploading it, and knowing another child will get to choose that toy for themselves.
Giving becomes something a child can personally participate in—not something only adults do.
WHY I CREATED WE CARE COUPONS
We Care Coupons was created to help make rebuilding Kids Give to Kids possible.
When you purchase a We Care Coupon Booklet, 50% of net profits goes toward rebuilding Kids Give to Kids.
My goal is to create a sustainable source of funding so Kids Give to Kids can come back stronger, smarter, and better prepared for the future.
I had the opportunity to build Kids Give to Kids once.
This time, I'm taking everything I learned—the successes and the mistakes—and using those lessons to build something I hope can reach and inspire even more children.
